How close a family friend is this? I get the feeling you sense "something is not right" with this situation. There is a good possibility something innocent happened to upset your daughter, like water that was too warm, or shampoo in the face, but I tend to listen to my instincts, especially when it comes to my own daughter.

A babysitter you don't know may be better, one that comes with credentials, letters of recoomendations, etc. Are there any local daycare providers in your area? Sometimes there are college students using this as credits towards early education degrees, and will welcome the experience, and come with references.

Good luck
Kathleen
