Overcoming Obstacles

 My life-long obstacle

Sweet Melanie,

I have an obstacle that I am not able to overcome alone.

Since Kindergarten thirteen years ago, I have wanted to become an actress. I didn't tell anyone about that dream until six grade, I guess, maybe even later, because I lacked the self-confidence to speak up. I now how enough confidence in myself to reach out to you and ask for your help.

In October 2003, I began writing screenplays. I have completed four and have started close to ten others within this two-year period.

Here is the logline for my best completed script:

In a segregated 1939 Texas town, the mayor's sixteen year old daughter befriends a seventeen year old African American boy, jeopardizing her friendships, father's job, and family's reputation.

I would like to act in this film, but I lack experience. I definitely want to participate on set somehow.

My obstacle is entering the movie industry. I have wanted to share my ideas and creativity with the world through the movie industry since I was four years old. I am now eighteen years old, and my dream has not yet been fulfilled.

Melanie, I enjoyed your film Crazy in Alabama and listened to both your commentary and Antonio's commentary. You are both fascinating people, and I wish you the best success in life. I was very touched by Crazy in Alabama. It was a great story.

There is a part for you in the above screenplay if you and Antonio choose to help me make it. Antonio could direct it, if he so chooses. Lucas Black, who starred with you in Crazy in Alabama, is on my cast "wish" list for the above screenplay also.

I admire you and your husband for all you do.

Thank you for considering helping me overcome my obstacle.
