Locks of Love is a wonderful charity that provides custom hairpieces, to children who have lost their hair. The specially made pieces are made entirely of human hair, which they receive from donors. It takes 12 ponytails, which is about 140,000 strands of hair, to make each hairpiece, so you can imagine that they need a lot of hair donations. If you would like to donate you hair, there are a few guidelines that must be followed:
- It must be a minimum of 12 inches long (tip to tip).
- The clean hair should be bundled in
a ponytail or braid and placed in a plastic bag.
- Hair may be colored or permed, but
not chemically damaged. (If you're not sure ask your stylist)
I don't have twelve inches of hair, but as
a mom, I feel compelled to support causes that help children.
I was so touched by the work that Locks of Love has done so
far, I knew that I needed to do something for them. I decided
to auction on Yahoo the custom made dress that I wore to the
Versace Couture Show in Paris, on behalf of OneWorldLive.com.
The bidding started at $100.00 on August 16th. A week later,
on the 23rd, the final bid was $7510.00! A big thanks to all
the bidders for their contribution to this exceptional charity.
If you want to help Locks of Love but
have short hair too, they needed financial donations to cover
the costs of making the custom fitted hair. Check out

have benefited from this great organization!
