What happens to animals abandoned or neglected by zoos, circuses and even private owners? Many times they are left to die. But thanks to The Roar Foundation and Shambala, started by my mom Tippi Hedren, large cats and other exotic animals now have a place to go. This eighty-acre game preserve is home to almost 70 animals including tigers, leopards, lions, panthers and even African elephants.
As you can imagine, the cost of taking care of the animals and the grounds is astounding. However, there is something you can do to help.
On Saturday June 9, the 3rd annual Shambala Run and Cat Walk is taking place in Palmdale, CA. This 10k/5k race not only helps raise funds to feed and care for the animals, but also raises awareness about the important role these animals play in our world.
